Mebendazole and Fenbendazole are both antiparasitic medications belonging to the benzimidazole class, but they are not the same drug. While they share a similar chemical structure and mechanism of action, their usage, approval, and target species differ significantly.

Mebendazole Tablet is an FDA-approved medication specifically formulated for human use. It is commonly prescribed to treat intestinal worm infections such as pinworms (threadworms), roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms. Mebendazole works by inhibiting glucose uptake in the parasite, causing energy depletion and eventual death of the worm.

On the other hand, Fenbendazole Tablet is primarily a veterinary dewormer, used to treat parasites in dogs, cats, horses, and livestock. It also interferes with the metabolic processes of parasites, leading to their death. In recent years, Fenbendazole has gained attention for its off-label use in humans, especially in experimental protocols for parasite infections and even as a potential adjunct in cancer research, though it is not approved for human use by regulatory authorities like the FDA.

Although both drugs are chemically related and effective against a similar range of parasites, they are not interchangeable without medical supervision. Mebendazole remains the preferred and approved choice for human deworming, while Fenbendazole should be used in humans only under controlled, research-based settings or veterinary guidance.
